How to Test TAPI Devices for Voice Support

CallAudit Voice is the Mountain Systems, Inc. voice mail enabled Caller ID software product. CallAudit Voice includes a extensive array of voice mail options that rely on the voice capabilities of the user's voice MODEM or other voice cabable device.

A key question is whether your voice MODEM or voice device can support the needed voice functions. This utility, tpdvcap.exe, is sometimes very useful in determining what capabilities each device supports.

To use this utility, do the following:

1. Download and Copy the utility to the CallAudit installation directory.
2. Execute the utility
3. Review the on screen display for your hardware capabilities.

Of particular importance are the following items:

1. Capable of playing audio files
2. Capable of recording audio files
3. Directly supported file formats
4. Indirectly supported file formats

The best approach is to configure you device and have someone call you.  If the program is able to play a greeting message and take a voice message during the call, then your device is working.
