The December 1995 issue of Computer Telephony Magazine focused on their choices for Products of the Year. CallAudit was chosen as one of those products. Included below is a copy of the data from the article on page 48. Please note that the phone numbers listed in this are as they were in the articles. MSI has since relocated. View our Contact section for the latest phone numbers. Since this award, CallAudit now includes Voice Mail, FAX, Text to Speech, and Voice Recognition in addition to its standard Caller ID features.
There's now quite a gaggle of impressive Caller ID devices for low-end apps (see the roundup in this issue). And while there are plenty of highend ISVs integrating the now nationwide service into their cutting-edge CT apps, there's a bit of a gap down in the simple two-to-four-line Caller ID niche. Mountain Systems'(Grundy, VA - 540-935-2275) Call Audit for Windows fills the void. We like void fillers.
When a call comes in, Call Audit gets the ID from some source (it works with lots of different hardware) and displays the incoming number and name of the caller on your computer. Its included sound support can announce the calling number and optionally your own recorded message to further identify the caller. Includes DDE capability to provide an automated interface with contact managers such as Symantec's ACT!. Incoming calls from selected numbers may be rejected.
Call Audit also includes its own contact database and gives users the option of displaying a variety of information for incoming calls. A separate Windows notepad data area is also included for each number for up to 32K of additional data storage.
The database includes an audit log of all incoming and outgoing calls that can be later recalled through a report interface. Both import and export options are provided to handle interfaces with other existing database systems.
Again, Call Audit supports many kinds of modems and Caller ID serial devices. Mountain Systems also offers a multi-line version of Call Audit with hardware. Even for a small shop without internal programming resources, you might want to try rolling your own four-line system with this package. You can do it for under $600. Nice for small retail outfits.
This is the main window for Mountain's Call Audit. It has a list of the names of people who called, their number, along with the time and date they called. There are clickable icons that can take you into whatever function you want. SOHO software apps, for one, could integrate this with their package. Small retail shops will like it too.
